Deep Tissue Massage — Depth With a Plan

Deep tissue massage in Fort Lauderdale for people whose tension keeps coming back. Carlos matches depth to what he finds through live assessment — contractions, scar tissue, adhesions and the chains that connect one area to another — so the pressure has a purpose, not just intensity.

Deep tissue, done with intent

Not just pressure. Results.

A deep tissue massage should be more than strong pressure. In Fort Lauderdale, Carlos Blain, LMT, builds each session around clinical assessment: where tissue is restricted, which muscles are contracting to protect an area, and how a restriction in one place can contribute to pain somewhere else. The depth follows the findings.

Carlos trained at the Swedish Institute in New York and brings a physical therapy background from Venezuela, with about 15 years of experience. That background shapes the work — slower, focused pressure into the deeper layers, adjusted moment to moment as your body responds, rather than a fixed routine applied the same way to everyone who books.

Who this is for

Who deep tissue massage helps.

Deep tissue work is often a good fit when lighter massage has not reached the problem:

  • Chronic neck, shoulder or back tensionThe kind that returns a day after a lighter massage — often because the deeper layers, and the patterns holding them, were never addressed.
  • Desk and posture strainLong hours at a screen can contribute to rounded shoulders, a tight chest and an overloaded neck and upper back.
  • Training and overuseAthletes and active people managing tight calves, hips, forearms or shoulders from repeated load.
  • Old injuries that never fully settledScar tissue and adhesions from past strains can keep tissue restricted long after the injury itself has healed.
  • Headaches with a muscle componentTension in the neck, jaw and shoulders can contribute to recurring headaches for many people.
  • People told they need “more pressure”If past massages felt too light to matter, depth guided by assessment is a different experience from simply pressing harder.
How Carlos works

Assessment first. Treatment second.

Every session starts with a 10–15 minute consultation — pain, injuries, surgeries, posture, habits and goals — because deep tissue work done without that picture can miss the cause entirely.

On the table, Carlos assesses live as he works: muscle contractions, scar tissue, adhesions, connected tissue chains and compensation patterns. When a deep layer is restricted, the body often protects it by tightening somewhere else; treating only where it hurts can leave the driver untouched. The treatment adapts as those findings change — and because pricing is by time, adapting never costs more.

How much does a deep tissue massage cost in Fort Lauderdale?
At Carlos Blain LMT, pricing is by time, not technique: in-office sessions are $180 for 60 minutes and $230 for 90 minutes; in-home sessions are $230 for 60 minutes and $310 for 90 minutes. First visits are $20 off, and HSA cards are accepted.
How often should I get deep tissue massage for chronic pain?
It depends on what is driving the pain and how your body responds. Many clients with chronic tension start with a short series of sessions spaced one to two weeks apart, then move to maintenance as movement improves. Carlos will talk through a sensible pace at your first session — no packages required.
What’s the difference between deep tissue massage and Swedish massage?
Swedish massage uses lighter, flowing pressure aimed at general relaxation. Deep tissue work is slower and more focused, reaching deeper layers to address restricted tissue and holding patterns. In Carlos’s practice you do not have to choose in advance — the session adapts live, and both can appear in the same treatment at the same price.
Does deep tissue massage hurt?
It should not. Deep work can feel intense in a restricted area, but pressure is matched to your needs and adjusted throughout — you stay in control of the depth at all times. Sharp pain is information, not a goal, and Carlos will ease off and reassess.
Do I need to choose deep tissue before my session?
No. Choosing one technique before an assessment can miss connected restrictions that only become clear on the table. You book a time frame; Carlos builds the treatment through ongoing clinical assessment, combining deep tissue with other methods as needed at no added charge.
